History
When housing estates started to be built in the 1950’s on farmland in Dean Court, there was a demand for a church. Services started in the then Social Club (since replaced by a Community Centre) with help from Oxford churches and St Michael’s. About 100 children attended the Sunday school. Eventually in 1961, the community joined in putting up is own wooden structure which became St Andrew’s Church, a daughter church of St Michael’s. When this building started to wear out, it was decided to rebuild the church completely. After seven years of prayer, planning, and fund-raising, the new eco-friendly and accessible St Andrew’s Church was opened in 2023 by Bishop Sophie Jelley, a former Dean Court resident.
